If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I…will answer you: I am here to live out loud.” ~ Emile Zola

Why Writing Camp?

One Earth Writing summer camps for teens use creative writing as a way to strengthen campers’ ease with language in a fun, supportive workshop setting. Teens connect through informal activities and writing prompts. Campers explore writing through the genres of poetry, prose and narrative nonfiction.

The goal of all One Earth Writing programs is to build confidence, leadership and voice in teens while connecting them across racial, religious, and socioeconomic divides. Building understanding across cultural lines helps dissolve differences and find common ground.

Everyone who participates in our writing camps will emerge as a more intellectually curious, motivated student who finds a new way to connect with writing – even if they struggled with it in the classroom. Our welcoming, supportive programs encourage insight and self-reflection for more multi-faceted, comfortable teens who feel good about who they are and know they can achieve any goal they aim to achieve.
